Not done yet

Most people over 50 have been told the wrong story about aging. The story goes like this: you're going to lose muscle, slow down, and eventually need help with things you used to do without thinking. Your job is to accept that gracefully and manage the decline.

Not Done Yet says that story is wrong, and it backs that up with evidence.

This book covers what resistance training actually does to an aging body, how to eat to support it, how to recover from it, how to keep doing it when life gets in the way, and how to think about it as a long-term practice rather than a short-term fix. It covers the biology of sarcopenia, the mechanics of progressive training, the truth about supplements, and yes, the world of masters bodybuilding for readers who want to see where serious commitment can actually take them.

It is not a motivational book. It does not have a 30-day plan. It does not have a proprietary program or a supplement to sell you. What it has is the current science, translated into plain language, written by someone who is living this in his 60s and feeling better than he did at 50. Not as a boast. Just as a data point.

The window is open longer than anyone told you. This book explains how to climb through it.

Not Done Yet: Strength, Muscle, and Health After 50 is available on Amazon in print and ebook.

What My READERS Say

Meet John

MY STOry

I'm John Harris, and I write under the name The Proud Boomer. I'm 62, a Navy veteran, a cancer survivor, and a NASM Certified Wellness Coach who returned to lifting weights a few years ago and discovered that everything I'd been told about aging and fitness was either incomplete or flat-out wrong.

I spent years doing what a lot of people in their 50s and 60s do: accepting that decline was just the deal. Except the research doesn't support that. Your body is not done. Mine wasn't. The science on muscle gain, strength, and metabolic health after 50 is genuinely encouraging, and almost nobody is talking about it without trying to sell you something.

So that's what I do. I wrote a book called Not Done Yet: Strength, Muscle, and Health After 50, and I publish regularly on Substack at Proud Boomer Wellness. Direct, evidence-grounded, written from lived experience.

I'm not an academic and I'm not a 30-year-old influencer. I'm someone living this, who did the research and wrote it down honestly.

One core idea: adults over 50 deserve straight talk about what's actually possible. And what's possible is a lot more than most people think.
